Looking Back

Since 1997, Highway Projects has worked in eighteen different project venues, each with an emphasis on fulfilling our purpose of sharing God's love in Christ in practical and caring ways.

In 2008 our work took us to nine projects and over 50 volunteers! Please read the project reports located under each of the projects planned for 2010 to get feel for the work that was accomplished in 2009.

Here's a flavour of our varied work:

Holy Family Episcopal Church and Arab Association for Human Rights, Raineh (2005, 2006, 2007) Community youth project bringing together Christian and Muslim young people.

The Helen Keller Centre for the Visually Impaired, Jerusalem (2006 - 2007)

Working with partially sighted and visually impaired children and young people.

Nadi-al-Mahaba Youth Club, Ibillin, Galilee (1997 - 2001)

Language, sports, arts and crafts work with over 100 Israeli Arab Teenagers on their annual summer camp.

The Four Homes of Mercy, Bethany, West Bank (1998- 2002)

Decoration projects in the children's, youth and men's wards of this residential home for those suffering with physical and mental abilities.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Lod/Ramle, nr Tel Aviv (2001 - 2002)

Decoration work in the church kindergarten; relational work with young people from the church; participation in a Jewish-Arab reconciliation project.

Highway Projects work has grown over the years and many Christians have been challenged by the need for relevant relational and practical mission work in the Middle East context. By the end of the first mission in 1997, the first team to Israel knew that there was much work to be done in Middle East. There still is. Why don't you join us in the work?
