Organisation

The organisation of Highway Projects is made up of 4 areas. Click on each title below to read more about us.

The Core Team: The Core Team is responsible for the day to day running of Highway Projects, and make the decisions about the operation of the work.

The Support Team: This group of people are committed to a specific area of Highway work including volunteer administration, prayer, travel, and publicity & advocacy.

The Team Leaders: This is the group of individuals who have been chosen to lead our teams of volunteers in the Middle East. They are chosen annually by the Core Team.

The Board: The Board of Highway Projects set policy and check that the organisation is financially and legally in good health.

The Core Team

Ian White, Development Co-ordinator

Ian has led and developed Highway Projects since the first team went to Israel on a mission in 1997. He has over 30 years experience of mission work in the UK and overseas and is on the teaching staff at Cliff College as Programme Leader; Children's and Youth Ministry courses. He lives in Sheffield and works part-time for Highway Projects developing the organisation in the UK and linking with overseas partners in the Middle East. He acts as Group Leader for all volunteer trips to the Middle East.


Ali Cusworth,

Ali has been working with Highway Projects since 1998 she lives in Sheffield and works as Operations Manager for Common Purpose; an educational charity running leadership programmes. Ali has led several teams to Jordan and Israel, headed up one of the first projects to Egypt in 2008.


Gareth Iball,

Gareth (known as Gaz to us) has been working with Highway Projects since 1999. He has served on a number of projects and has led several teams in Israel and Palestine. Gaz lives in Leeds, works as a Medical Physicist and regularly leads worship at his local church.


Issy Phillips,

Issy has been involved with Highway Projects since 2004 both as a volunteer and team leader in Jerusalem, where she returned to head up a project on the Mount of Olives in 2008. She lives in London and works in fundraising for an international childrens charity, has a great heart for the peoples of Israel.



David Anderson,

David has been involved with Highway Projects since 2006 both as a volunteer and team leader in Nazareth. Our Scottish representative, he has just moved to Aberdeen from north London and is shortly to be engaging with further postgraduate theological study.



Emma Beavers

Emma has been involved with Highway Projects since 2002, first as a volunteer, and more recently leading teams in Israel and Jordan. Emma lives and works in London where she supports the education, training and development of young people.


Jonny Libby

Jonny Libby has been involved with Highway Projects since 2007, volunteering on the Princess Basma team in Israel/ Palestine. He works at the Chaplaincy at Plymouth University, and is married with two children.
